Prepare today, enjoy tomorrow

Track riding puts pressure on any machine. Therefore, it’s vitally important that your bike be prepared for several days on track. To this end we’ve put together the following list as a guide as to what preparation should be done before your bike is packed up for its trip.

Change the oil and oil filter, fit spark plugs, clean or replace the air filter and change the coolant. Fit a new set of brake pads, ones that are suitable for track and /or race use. Service the suspension on either end. Fitting a new chain and sprocket set will pay dividends when it comes to positive drive on the circuit.

Inspect and lubricate both the throttle clutch cables. Replace them if you notice even the slightest sign of broken strands. Do the same for the gear, brake and clutch levers. Lubricate the linkages and bearings in your rear suspension and swingarm.

Check and replace the clutch and brake fluids. Bring a spare clutch if you think it might be necessary. A new battery may also be needed, particularly if the bike has been parked up for any length of time.

Your bikes bearings, including wheel and headstock, will need to be inspected and replaced if necessary. Don’t forget to check the bearings in your spare wheels.

Finally, you will not be allowed out on track without a brake lever protector!
